Hi, I’m Tom….

Some call me a social impact entrepreneur. Others call me an advocate and a changemaker.

….I prefer Wanderer, Builder, and Storyteller.

A little about me

I'm inconveniently tall, freshly addicted to coffee, in love with long hikes, and always looking for the next chance to unleash my patented dad jokes.

I travel the United States empowering and supporting visionaries and pioneers — contributing to long-shot political campaigns, social impact startups, innovative nonprofits, social movements, and beyond.

  • “Not all who wander are lost.”

I live for the road and the chance to meet and learn from communities across the United States, with a focus on the Southeast.

  • “If you build it, they will come.”

I launch and scale innovative civic programs, campaigns, and movements that empower communities and support their leaders.

  • “To change the world, you have to change the story.”

I seek out stories large and small, elevating and uplifting the joys, hardships, and passions of those I’ve met in life’s journeys.

Focus Areas

We live in a time of incredible abundance and incredible hardship.
Our challenges may be immense, but so too is our capacity to tackle them.

Here are the focus areas for my work…

End Child Abuse

Children should be protected

1 in 4 girls and 1 in 13 boys in the United States experience sexual abuse during childhood.

Through judicial reform, strengthened community initiatives, strategic government policy, and prevention education, we can take action to end childhood sexual violence. We are all united in the movement to keep kids safe.

Eradicate
Poverty

Poverty is a finite number

Nearly 38 million people in the U.S. live in poverty, with children disproportionately affected.

Through smarter economic policies, expanded opportunities for entrepreneurship, inclusive job growth, and rural infrastructure, we can drastically reduce poverty. When we work in community, progress and prosperity are possible.

Raise Good Men

Masculinity is strong and kind

Men are four times more likely to die by suicide than women. Boys lag behind girls in school readiness.

By fostering open conversations, providing mental health support, and delivering comprehensive education, we can empower boys and men to thrive. Modern masculinity uplifts women and girls while refusing to leave our boys and men behind.

Humanize
Technology

Our tech reflects our values

50% of AI researchers believe there’s at least a 10% chance of human extinction due to poorly managed AI.

With collaboration among technologists, policymakers, communities, and beyond, we can better align technology with humanity. We must democratize both access to and ownership of the technology that shapes our lives.

The American Solstice

I manage the "American Solstice," a Substack publication dedicated to navigating our moments of greatest hope and change.

I publish articles, podcasts, and video recordings on a diverse array of topics that highlight how everyday people and communities have overcome great struggles throughout history.

From innovative policy discussions to inspiring stories of grassroots movements, "American Solstice" is a shared beacon of insight, optimism, and a splash of levity.

The substack is currently under a rebrand and will be re-launched in late July 2025.
